Objective: To investigate the effects of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACCT) on psychological flexibility and post-traumatic growth in stroke patients. Methods: A total of 109 stroke patients admitted to the emergency department of our hospital between June 2018 and January 2019 were enrolled and randomly divided into a control group (n=54) and an observation group (n=55). The control group received routine psychological care, while the observation group received ACCT. The two groups were compared in psychological flexibility and post-traumatic growth before and after the intervention. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in psychological flexibility and post-traumatic growth between the two groups before the intervention (P>0.05). After the intervention, the psychological flexibility and post-traumatic growth of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: ACCT can effectively improve the psychological flexibility and promote post-traumatic growth in stroke patients.
