Objective: To investigate the efficacy of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) combined with rehabilitation training versus rehabilitation training alone in the rehabilitation of spinal cord injury patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Methods: Sixty patients with a PTSD scale score higher than 38 were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group. The control group received comprehensive rehabilitation training; the treatment group received acceptance and commitment therapy in addition to comprehensive rehabilitation treatment. The recovery of self-care ability in the two groups was compared after 1, 2, and 3 months of treatment. Results: Compared with the control group, the treatment group receiving ACT showed a significant improvement in the modified Barthel Index and a significant decrease in the PTSD scale score; the differences between the two groups were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: ACT combined with rehabilitation training is beneficial for improving the self-care ability of spinal cord injury patients with post-traumatic stress disorder and alleviating the symptoms of psychological stress disorder.
