In this paper we present an analytic essay in a functional-contextual conceptualization based on the recent research on verbal behavior, behavior-behavior relations and derivation of psychological functions. Classical conceptualizations are viewed with predictive value although reduced implication for preventing and altering the developmental process of personality.

The term rule-governed behavior (RGB) was first coined by Skinner (1966) to refer to behavior essential to complex human abilities. The traditional behavioral account of rulegoverned behavior presented some difficulties in describing how these abilities are formed and altered. With the advent of recent findings within the theoretical approach referred to as Relational Frame Theory (RFT), the former difficulties are at present being overcome.

Describes the successful 18-session psychosocial treatment of a 26-yr-old woman with generalized anxiety. Prior 1-yr psychopharmacological therapy was ineffective. Clinical treatment incorporated progressive relaxation training, the shaping of S's verbal behavior about her problem and its solutions, some strategies from acceptance and commitment therapy, and self-monitoring. Positive results were maintained at 1-mo and 12-mo follow-up.

En el presente estudio se expone un procedimiento de intervención en un caso diagnosticado de Trastorno Esquizotípico de la Personalidad. Se ha centrado el tratamiento en aquellos aspectos personales con mayor repercusión social o importancia de cara a otras conductas problema. En la intervención se han utilizado componentes y principios recogidos en la Terapia de Aceptación y Compromiso y la Psicoterapia Analítico Funcional.
