This specialty clinic/lab serves the Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology at Hofstra University. Doctoral stuudents interested in learning ACT do their practicum work here. It is common that students in the lab serve as therapists for dissertations of upper level graduate students. In the past, we have evaluated the efficacy of the acceptance-based approach for chronic pain, pain tolerance, anxiety, and driving anger. We have also been using acceptance-based approaches to help people with medical conditions, such a hypothyroidism, lead more fulfilling lives.
