If anyone has any thoughts or, even better, could recommend any literature on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated...
I have been practicing Aikido for a year and a half and in it, along with most other martial arts, the ultimate goal is to create "good people," especially before Western influences have made many of the arts into a sport.
Having a history in RFT, I have noticed that the principles you learn in the dojo, that you then apply to your techniques, tend to generalize to daily life. I like to think of it as directly training non-arbitrary relations in the dojo, but then you eventually find yourself "seeing" or "applying" those relations (e.g., staying centered, blending instead of clashing etc...) to your daily social and nonsocial interactions with the world.
I am thinking about how to interpret this general phenomenon behaviorally, and I think RFT might provide a way. If anyone has any thoughts on this, please feel free to share them.
