In this 3-hour class, we will explore the importance of self-care for clinicians in today's fast-paced world. By incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into your practice, you can improve your own well-being while empowering your clients to lead more meaningful lives. Throughout the course, you will learn the fundamental principles and techniques of ACT, integrating mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based action to help clients overcome challenges and achieve their goals. You will also discover how to apply ACT to your own life, promoting self-care and preventing burnout. Through interactive lectures, case discussions, and experiential exercises, experienced instructors will provide personalized feedback and guidance to elevate your self-care and the care you offer to clients. By the course's end, you will possess a deep understanding of ACT, equipped with practical tools to overcome obstacles, enhance well-being, and effect positive change in both your practice and the lives of your clients.

Learning Objectives: 

Identify a comprehensive understanding of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles and their application in clinical practice, integrating mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based action. 

Choose ACT techniques to enhance self-care, prevent burnout, and promote personal well-being as a clinician. 

Demonstrate experiential exercises and case discussion to analyze the effectiveness of ACT strategies in overcoming client challenges and achieving meaningful goals. 

Apply personalized feedback and guidance to improve ACT implementation, communicate ACT concepts effectively, and assess the impact of ACT on personal well-being and client outcomes. 

Speaker: Kathy Woerner, LCSW received her education at Lynchburg College and Boston University and is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Financial Social Work, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Kathy is the proud owner of Cultivated Mental Health, a women-owned small business and is passionate about working with clinicians to combat burnout.
