Are you an ACT clinician looking to build your knowledge and skills in ACT Supervision?

Have you considered offering supervision but weren’t sure where to start?

In this workshop, ACT Supervisors Sally Bradley and Jim Lucas will teach you how to deliver an ACT-consistent approach to supervision and consultancy.

You will learn the SEED four-phase ACT supervision model, which builds on existing supervision research in contextual behavioural science (CBS) to support the growth of ACT knowledge and skills.

You’ll discover how to:

  • Create a SAFE and supportive learning environment.
  • EXPLORE functional analysis to guide interventions.
  • Apply EXPERIENTIAL methods.
  • Implement DELIBERATE practice through skills development plans to help ACT practitioners build their competencies.

The trainers aim to give you a clearer understanding of how to deliver ACT consistent supervision. You can expect an experiential approach that mirrors the application of ACT therapy. They’ll help you think about your client’s context and invite you to observe and reflect on your context and how it impacts the therapeutic and supervisor relationships.

Over two consecutive days, you’ll explore the supervisory process through demonstrations, group exercises and personal reflection. You’ll practice shaping psychological flexibility so that you feel ready to begin offering ACT supervision.

Following completion, you will have a straightforward process for helping clinicians build their competencies, so you can continue your journey toward becoming a more effective ACT Supervisor.

Educational Objectives:

  1. Clearly describe how to consider and design a safe and curious learning environment for supervisees so that you can optimise their professional development.
  2. Identify supervisee learning needs so you can focus on developing skills in relevant areas together.
  3. Learn how to develop your supervisee’s abilities to create a functional analysis of their client’s difficulties so that they can apply ACT consistently and coherently.
  4. Apply experiential learning methods in supervision to help supervisees discover new ways to increase psychological flexibility for themselves and their clients.
  5. Develop skills in inviting supervisees to join you in a commitment to deliberate practice, track what happened, and build competencies over time.
  6. Identify personal learning objectives to become a more effective ACT supervisor so that you can follow an individualised development plan.

Bonus Content:

  • Companion eBook ACTivating your Supervision.
  • Four weekly focused emails will be sent after the completion of the course. Each email will recap and build on knowledge and skills introduced and further invite delegates through practical exercises to deliberately develop their supervisor skills incrementally.

Who this is for:

  • ACT Practitioners with more than two years of experience who want to improve their knowledge and skills to deliver ACT-consistent supervision
  • Practitioners seeking a workshop that, through experiential learning, aims to build their supervision competence
  • Practitioners who have supervisory responsibilities
  • Practitioners who want to start offering consultancy/supervision soon

The workshop is unsuitable for practitioners without applied knowledge of ACT
