The ACBS Board is pleased to announce the adoption of Open Science recommendations made by the Task Force on the Strategy and Tactics of Contextual Behavioral Science Research.
This set of recommendations was developed by an Open Science subcommittee chaired by Louise McHugh (the members were Dermot Barnes-Holmes, Maria Karekla, Steven Hayes, and Stefan G. Hofmann). The recommendations were then shared with the entire Task Force and after adjustments were unanimously approved.
Open Science is being widely discussed and we want to note that we view these recommendations as in part a fulfillment of the UNESCO Open Science recommendations for groups and associations. Specifically, we want the spirit of our Open Science document and the entire Task Force report to be understood as part of a larger scientific diversity effort that is intended to promote greater international cooperation on Open Science and a more elaborated common understanding of the diverse paths to it. Our goal in adopting these recommendations is to help develop a supportive policy environment for Open Science within the Association itself. It is our belief and hope that these Open Science recommendations and the entire Task Force report promotes innovative approaches for Open Science at all of the relevant stages of the scientific process.
JCBS, through the hard work of our Editor Michael Levin and ACBS' Publication Committee, is empowered to take these steps and invest in infrastructures, services and capacity building with the intent and hopefully the effect of transforming our scientific culture and aligning incentives for Open Science within the CBS community.
Sincerely,
ACBS Board
