Abstract

Positive Psychology encourages the scientific treatment of happiness, and the analysis of the conditions that facilitate its emergence. As well, it promotes the search for wellbeing indicators in the general population, and the promotion of personal characteristics related to wellbeing at an individual level, that comprise subjective experiences evaluated as positive. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy analyzes psychopathology within a functional perspective which is focused in the experimental evidence regarding the characteristic of being verbal and how this confronts the cultural assumptions. This is a brief contribution that summarizes the commonalities and the gaps between these two approaches, with a special emphasis in the clinical and preventive methods offered to the individuals to face life with harmony within the characteristics of human condition.
