In this session, Dr. Robyn Walser will discuss Effective Training and Delivery of ACT: Dissemination and Implementation Issues, drawing from her chapter in The Oxford Handbook of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. The presentation will explore how effective dissemination and implementation depend on fidelity, competency, and sustained supervision, and what happens when interventions become “diluted” through partial or inaccurate adoption, a phenomenon Dr. Walser describes as the "telephone game effect."

Building on her work in large-scale dissemination efforts, including within the Veterans Health Administration, Dr. Walser will examine barriers and opportunities for effective training and delivery of contextual behavioral interventions. While the focus will be on ACT, the conversation will also address the growing need for developing and disseminating competencies in Relational Frame Theory (RFT), highlighting how both models face similar challenges in maintaining fidelity and skillful implementation.

Following her talk, there will be time for Q&A and discussion on bridging ACT and RFT dissemination and training efforts within behavior analysis and contextual behavioral science
