ACT/CBS Background and Training: I received my PhD with Steve Hayes at the University of Nevada Reno, attending workshops, conducting research and serving as a therapist on the ACT team and on clinical trials throughout my training. I completed my training and worked at the Veteran's Affairs (VA) Puget Sound Healthcare System in Seattle, WA, serving as a national consultant for the VA ACT for Depression training initiative, and on the board of the Washington State chapter of ACBS. My co-authored a book for therapists on how to apply ACT from a values perspective is available online (The Art and Science of Valuing in Psychotherapy: Helping Clients Discover, Explore, and Commit to Valued Action Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I worked for 7 years as faculty at Duke University providing ACT-informed clinical services, conducting CBS-relevant research, and supervising learners in ACT ranging from psychology doctoral residents to organizations providing clinical services. I have extensive experience facilitating ACT training workshops and providing clinical work and consultation for clinical trials research, and I am a Peer Reviewed ACT Trainer and part of the Community of ACT Trainers.
