ACT/CBS Background and Training: Over the past 20 years, I have attended numerous ACT workshops offered by Drs. Steven Hayes, Kelly Wilson, and D.J. Moran. I have also offered my own ACT and mindfulness-related trainings to other mental health professionals. In 2010, I became a co-founder of ACT-NYCE, a peer supervision group comprised of local experts in ACT, RFT, and behavioral analysis.

In 2012, I chaired two programs on Buddhism and ACT at the World Con X, the ACBS annual convention. Entitled "Dharma in ACTion: Why ACT needs Buddhism and Buddhism needs ACT," the panel featured Tara Brach, John Forsyth, Joel Guarna, Brian Thompson, Jamie Bolles. The symposium, "Buddhism and Functional Contextualism: Intersections of RFT and ACT with Contemplative Wisdom and Practice," included presentations by NeLi Martin, Paul Atkins, Scott Temple, and Dennis Tirch.

In 2014, my first book on ACT was released. Co-written with Drs. Ian Stewart, JoAnne Dahl, and Christopher Martell, the book is entitled "ACT & RFT for Relationships" and it's available on Amazon and other on-line retailers.

Since 2015, I have been part of the executive leadership of NYC-ACBS (first as Member-At-Large and then as Treasurer). In 2019, I started coordinating our committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Since 2023, I have served as President of the organization.
ACT/CBS Experience: 20 years
Additional Information: I have been involved in mindfulness-based training, education, and psychotherapy since 1999. I wrote a book devoted to mindfulness practice in the city, Urban Mindfulness, which was released in 2010. Please visit UrbanMindfulness.org for more information.

My patients have found ACT to be very helpful in addressing issues that have been inadequately resolved in prior therapies (e.g., psychoanalysis, traditional CBT, etc.). I hope that you peruse the resources available on this site and learn more about this powerful therapy.
