ACT/CBS Background and Training: I am a clinical psychologist and consultant with a private practice in San Francisco, CA. I am also active as a teacher and activist in climate psychology. In my former life I conducted research on mood and anxiety disorders using tools from experimental cognitive psychology and neuroscience. I began learning ACT during my psychology internship at the Palo Alto VA Health Care System in 2004 under the guidance of Drs. Robyn Walser and Darrah Westrup. While I was already trained in CBT and had a long history of mindfulness-based practices, I became so smitten with ACT that it has since become what pervades my clinical approach the most, along with Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. EFT is an evidence-based, experiential and attachment-oriented couples therapy approach that I find complements and integrates well with ACT. I love learning and continually expanding my understanding and implementation of ACT, EFT and other approaches and science by reading, consulting, attending and leading/teaching workshops, courses, etc. I became a Prosocial Facilitator in Dec 2021.
