Dear Association for Contextual Behavioral Science,
my name is Oleksandr Savchyn and I'm your colleague from Ukraine. I'm also a
proud member of ACBS. I believe in the ACBS community - from my experience
it's one of the most humane, firm in its values, and responsive, that I ever
met.
I also am a proud citizen of Ukraine. Right now a war is going on here. It's
the second day of a full scale war that came from Russia, initiated by
Russian president Vladimir Putin. I'm not in the current immediate frontline,
but even here (in Ivano-Frankivsk) there was a missile air strike (yesterday
morning) that was launched by the Russian army by the order of Putin.
And I'm writing to you not just as a Ukrainian, but mainly as a human being:
This terror must be stopped! No sensible person cannot stand idle! Every
action, every voice counts!
I'm humbly urging you all to take action too, as the Association, and as
individuals too.
What can be done:
Stage 1: Write the letters to officials, as the Association in general and as
local Associations/SIGs by countries. Write to the presidents and
commissionaires and secretaries, to the governments and to the associations
and to the organizations. And urge them to act decisively, to take concrete
firm actions to stop the war!
The more appeals they here, the more they are prompted to act, and the more
support is behind the rightful actions to protect human lives!
Stage 2: You could offer any of the ACT training courses or seminars to all
from the psychology and social workers. Especially if somebody from our
Association has the experience in working with war theme.
I'm ready to participate myself, to go through any professional ACT training
(live or recorded one). I'm also willing to promote and gather ACT trainings
for psychology workers here, in Ukraine (in online format).
I firmly believe in ACT power to help psychological, as in the time of war,
so in the time of after war, when there would be an immense process of
healing the wounds.
If you have other ideas - any initiative is welcomed as far as it is directed
towards the cessation of war, towards the relief of human suffering and
towards the human values!
With deep regards and sincere hopes, your fellow human being, colleague and
Ukrainian, Oleksandr Savchyn.
