Hi! We invite you to watch and enjoy this deep and friendly interview between Steven C. Hayes and Centro Integral de Psicología, where he shares with us his knowledge and some reflections and useful advices for the community of psychologists and students in Mexico.
Steven Hayes shares his definition of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), its begginings and explains its innovations and differences with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); he talks about the Relational Frame Theory (RFT) and the link between the evidence of basic and applied research for its development; he shares his opinion and feelings about the critics made to RFT in the past; his thoughts of the efforts that look for linking behavior analysis with neuroscience, in addition to what we could see in the future of Contextual Therapies, and he talks about which proyects he’s working on and what he’s involved in lately.
In this interview, Steven Hayes, sends a special message to Mexico and shares some advices for Universities, professionals and psychology students in Sinaloa and Mexico who live in a scene, at the moment, not exactly promising to the Empirically Supported Treatments.
This is an inspiring, meaningful talk that you cannot miss! Besides that it is the first video-interview he does for Mexico, there’s nothing more motivating than learning and hearing in voice of its protagonists how the history of the psychology is written.
This interview is an effort of those who are part of Centro Integral de Psicología, to bring this information to all professionals and students of psychology in Los Mochis, Sinaloa; in Mexico and all Spanish speaking countries.

About Steven C. Hayes:
He is Nevada Foundation Professor in the Behavior Analysis program at the Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada. His career has focused on an analysis of the nature of human language and cognition and the application of this to the understanding and alleviation of human suffering. He is the developer of Relational Frame Theory, and has guided its extension to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). With more than 40 books and more than 500 scientific articles Steven Hayes is undoubtedly one of the psychologists who have most impacted the world of psychology.

Sobre Steven C. Hayes:
Es Profesor del Departamento de Psicología de la Universidad de Nevada, Reno. Su carrera se ha centrado en el análisis de la naturaleza del lenguaje humano y la cognición y a cómo aplicar este conocimiento a la comprensión y alivio del sufrimiento humano. Es el desarrollador de la Teoría del Marcos Relacionales (RFT) y ha guiado su extensión a la Terapia de Aceptación y Compromiso (ACT). Con más de 40 libros y más de 500 artículos científicos Steven Hayes es sin duda uno de los psicólogos que más han impactado el mundo de la psicología.
