Objective: To investigate the effects of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACCT) on the resilience of patients after hand trauma surgery.
Methods: A total of 69 patients with moderate to severe hand trauma admitted to the Department of Hand Surgery of a tertiary-level Class A orthopedic hospital from January 2019 to December 2019 were selected through convenience sampling. Thirty-five patients in the pre-treatment group served as the control group, while 34 patients in the post-treatment group served as the intervention group. The control group received routine nursing care, while the intervention group received ACCT nursing intervention in addition to routine care. Patients were assessed using the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire and the Resilience Scale before and after the intervention.
Results: After the intervention, the experiential avoidance level of the intervention group was lower than that of the control group and before the intervention, while the resilience level was higher than that of the control group and before the intervention, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.01).
Conclusion: ACCT can effectively reduce the experiential avoidance level and improve the resilience of patients after hand trauma surgery, which has a positive impact on their recovery.
