Objective: To explore the efficacy of nursing intervention based on the concept of acceptance and commitment in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR) and its impact on their quality of life. Methods: A total of 194 patients with DR admitted to our hospital between June 2016 and June 2018 were randomly divided into a control group (n=96) and an observation group (n=98). The control group received routine nursing care, while the observation group received nursing intervention based on the concept of acceptance and commitment. The two groups were compared in terms of treatment compliance, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) scores, Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) scores, Quality of Life Scale for Patients with Visual Impairment, and patient satisfaction. Results: The treatment compliance in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group (P<0.05). After the intervention, the SAS and SDS scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those before the intervention and lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After the intervention, the quality of life scores in the observation group were higher than those before the intervention and higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The satisfaction in the observation group was better than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Nursing intervention based on the concept of acceptance and commitment can effectively improve the treatment compliance of DR patients, reduce their anxiety and depression, and improve their quality of life.
