This paper points out certain difficulties that are usually encountered in attempting to employ the protocol analysis method to study human language and cognition. A number of solutions to these problems are then presented, specially regarding the use of the silent dog method. It is suggested that these recommendations will allow for wider use of the protocol analysis method in behavioral psychology. Este artículo señala algunos problemas que se encuentran habitualmente al utilizar la metodología del análisis de protocolos para estudiar el lenguaje y la cognición en humanos. Se presentan algunas soluciones a estos problemas, especialmente relacionadas con el uso del método del silent dog. Se sugiere que estas recomendaciones permitirín un uso mayor de la metodología del análisis de protocolos en la psicología conductual.
