Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effect of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) on respiratory function exercise in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods: One hundred and twenty patients with COPD admitted to our hospital from January to July 2018 were selected and divided into the control group and the intervention group by random number table,60 cases in each. The control group was given conventinal treatment, and the intervention group was treated with ACT on the basis of the control group. The psychological flexibility of the two groups before and after intervention was assessed by the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-2 nd Edition (AAQ-Ⅱ). The compliance of respiratory function exercise of the two groups after intervention was assessed by compliance evaluation criteria. The psychological flexibility and the compliance of respiratory function exercise of the two groups before and after intervention were compared.

Results: After intervention, the psychological flexibility scores of the intervention group were lower than those of the control group (P <0. 05), and the compliance of respiratory function exercise was higher than that of the control group (P <0. 05).

Conclusion: ACT nursing intervention can improve the psychological flexibility and the compliance of respiratory function exercise in patients with COPD. It is worthy popularizing in clinic.
