Huang, C., Li, J., Lu, H., Hu, C., & Chen, J. (2019). Acceptance and commitment therapy combined with paroxetine in the treatment of postpartum depression after painless delivery: A clinical study. Academic Journal of Guangzhou Medical University, 2, 74-76.
To explore the clinical efficacy of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) combined with paroxetine in the treatment of postpartum depression after painless delivery.
Methods: A total of 92 patients with postpartum depression after painless childbirth in our hospital between January 2017 and July 2018 were randomly divided into the control group (n = 46) and study group (n = 46) by using the random number table. The control group was treated with paroxetine, while the study group was treated with ACT plus paroxetine. The therapeutic efficacy and scores of Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), Montgomery-Eisenberg Depression Scale (MADRS), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Self-esteem Scale (SES), General Self-efficacy Scale (GSES), Concise Well-being and Quality of Life Satisfaction Questionnaire (Q-LES-Q-SF) before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.
Results: The overall effective rate was 95. 65% in the study group, which was higher than that in the control group (76. 09%) (P < 0. 05). After treatment, the HAMD, MADRS and HAMA scores were lower in the study group than those in the control group (P<0.05), the SES and GSES scores were higher in the study group than those in the control group (P<0.05), and the Q-LES-Q-SF score was higher in the study group than that in the control group (P< 0.05).
Conclusion: ACT plus paroxetine may relieve depression and anxiety, improve self-esteem and self-efficacy, and improve the quality of life in patients with postpartum depression after painless delivery.
