Deliver effective and affirming therapy for Autistic clients and ADHDers

Every day, we’re learning more about neurodiversity and the different ways people experience the world.

This has led to validating diagnoses for many neurodivergent individuals who have long struggled or faced burnout from years of trying to meet neuro-normative expectations.

It has also helped many people better understand how they operate and what their unique needs are.

However, clinical training has largely not kept up. Many therapists find themselves without tools to effectively meet neurodivergent clients’ needs and help them address challenges while creating an affirming therapeutic environment.

If you’re finding this in your own work, join Praxis Continuing Education and training for this important series.

What's in the course

This two-part training series is taught by experts and clinical psychologists Jennifer Kemp, MPsych, and Drew Carr, PhD, who teach an effective, functional contextual approach to supporting Autistic clients and ADHDers in therapy.

You’ll learn about neurobiological differences and neurodiverse culture as well as the strategies for neurodiversity-affirming practice, gaining the tools you need to:

  • Make your current approach more affirming and effective through your use of language, your communication style, and an improved sensitivity to clients’ unique needs

  • Get traction with clients who are considered complex and treatment-resistant by adapting your approach to better suit their needs

  • Identify and address the underlying function of challenging behaviors related to neurodivergence, such as suicidal ideation, skin-picking, and bingeing

  • Promote clients’ skills in self-regulation, self-compassion, and self-acceptance

  • Help clients unmask, build safe relationships, alleviate neurodivergent burnout, and advocate for their needs

Join both courses for the full experience, a discounted rate, and in-depth instruction across Autism and ADHD. Or select the training most relevant to your practice.
