Program Abstract: Becoming a skilled and flexible ACT therapist is a lifelong endeavor. A critical choice for therapists at all stages of training is between focusing on "appearing competent" or striving for "being competent." Newer therapists may especially grapple with this decision, often leaning toward behaviors that create a sense of competence but hinder growth, such as rigid adherence to rules.
This workshop will equip ACT supervisors with strategies to foster a supportive environment that encourages supervisees to prioritize vulnerability and growth over safety and impression management. Participants will delve into the multifaceted aspects of ACT supervision, encompassing various forms of competence (head, hands, heart), barriers to competence (psychological inflexibility), and the essential elements of a safe and growth-oriented supervisory relationship.
Target Audience: The workshop is ideal for practitioners already practicing ACT at an intermediate level who want to refresh their repertoire in supervision. It is appropriate for all behavioral health professionals, including Psychologists, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, and Psychiatric Nurse-Practitioners who supervise or interested in supervising other clinicians.
Continuing Education Details: Participants are required to attend the entire training. Partial credits cannot be issued. For psychology CE credits, completion of the evaluation is strongly encouraged. If you do not wish to complete the evaluation but desire to receive psychology CEs please contact info@theACTacademy.com after the training event.
There is a 30-day time limit post-training to complete all CE requirements. CE Credit Certificates will be emailed to all completers of the training within 30 days after all course requirements have been completed.
