ACT/CBS Background and Training: I have been a recipient of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) since 2009. I have had multiple supervisors work with me to employ ACT for therapy, counseling, coaching and corporate training. I utilize ACT to combine mindfulness and values, so clients can manage unworkable thoughts and identify/work with what’s important to them, bringing meaning to life.
I have two decades’ experience mentoring those with substance abuse and workplace issues, as well as 3.5 years of experience as a counselor for a crisis center. In addition to PCT and ACT, I have certification in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), QPR Gate Keeper Training, and Psychological First Aid (PFA).

Additional Information: I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHCA) from the state of Washington. I work with individual adults of both sexes, and the LGBQT community. As a therapist or counselor, I support individuals facing challenges related to work, relationships, and cultural adjustments, and related stress issues like depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, or substance abuse. As a coach I help individuals clarify their goals, find direction, and create actionable steps to achieve meaningful progress in their personal and professional lives. In addition I offer mental wellness training to corporations and other organizations.
My philosophy is to meet you where you are. I believe in us having a committed relationship, where we will explore your challenges, identify your strengths, and work collaboratively to create meaningful steps toward the life you want. I am happy to counsel or gently point you in the right direction, but you will be steering the ship.
I am from the USA, raised in both Texas and Minnesota. My higher education consists of a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have lived in Japan since 1995 and have accumulated 27 years experience in the Tokyo business market. I’ve worked in both Japanese and multinational firms, managing teams, divisions, and companies. I brought my helping profession based education and values system to my career in Japan, making my success through caring about the welfare of my market contacts. My experiences and experiences of my market contacts over the years in and out of the workplace made me aware of the acute shortage of individual and organizational mental wellness options, and was a major contributor to my therapeutic focus.
