Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effects of group acceptance and commitment therapy on self-efficacy, negative emotions, and post-traumatic growth in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). Methods: From July 2018 to December 2019, 62 patients with aSAH admitted to the neurosurgery department of our hospital were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 31 patients in each group. The control group received routine perioperative health guidance, while the observation group received group acceptance and commitment therapy in addition to the routine perioperative health guidance. Self-efficacy, negative emotions, and post-traumatic growth were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results: After the intervention, the observation group had higher scores in self-efficacy, post-traumatic growth, and related dimensions than the control group (P < 0.05). After the intervention, the observation group had lower scores on the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA) and the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) than the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Group acceptance and commitment therapy can improve the self-efficacy and post-traumatic growth level of aSAH patients, enabling them to face the disease with a positive attitude, reduce perioperative negative emotions, and promote their physical and mental health.
