We’re excited to announce our upcoming workshop, Innovations in Clinical Supervision! We developed this course to fill the gap between the basic information about supervision you may have learned in graduate school and the complex demands of everyday supervision practice. Many continuing education courses on supervision don’t go beyond the basics. This course is designed to help you tackle the challenges we face as modern clinical supervisors, including best practices in telesupervision; structuring feedback effectively; and managing contemporary ethical concerns such as working with supervisees with disabilities, addressing issues of identity and culture in supervision, and navigating values conflicts.

Innovations in Clinical Supervision will walk you through cutting-edge evidence and best practices in today’s supervision landscape, giving you a clear sense of how to navigate today’s most pressing challenges. Participants will also have an opportunity to receive consultation regarding ongoing supervision as a part of this series.

After taking the workshop, you’ll be much better equipped to…

More confidently and effectively use your supervision time with cutting-edge best practices to help supervisees develop their clinical skills

Ethically navigate cultural and identity differences that exist between you and your supervisees as well as supervisees and their clients

Provide specific and constructive feedback to help supervisees address skill deficits or overcome resistance to professional standards

Use a behaviorally-anchored method to monitor supervisee performance, helping you target improvement opportunities and communicate their importance to supervisees

Protect yourself legally with evidence-based best practices

The training is designed for supervisors from across mental health professions who want to move beyond the basics, but will also be accessible to those who have never before taken a supervision course. Even if you’ve been supervising for many years, we created this workshop to help you meet the evolving challenges of modern supervision.

As trainers, we bring years of experience running graduate-level training clinics at UCLA and the University of Tennessee, providing supervision to trainees from multiple mental health fields, serving on the board of the Association of Psychology Training Clinics, and conducting research into best practices in supervision. We are passionate about supporting supervisors in finding efficient, effective, and evidence-based ways to train the next generation of mental health professionals.

Registrants will receive access to a recording of the sessions for three months after the live training ends.
