ACT/CBS Background and Training: I have been providing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) trainings nationally and internationally since 1998. I have presented widely at professional conferences on both the clinical application and research of ACT, and have authored nine books along with numerous chapters and peer-reviewed articles on this approach, including The Heart of ACT, ACT and Moral Injury, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the Treatment of PTSD and Trauma-Related Disorders, Learning ACT (2nd ed.), The Mindful Couple, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: Deliberate Practice to Develop and Enhance Skills in ACT.

My clinical work is grounded in the treatment of trauma, moral injury, and related conditions, while also addressing a broad range of psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, and challenges in living a meaningful life. Across these areas, I emphasize helping individuals reconnect with values, restore a sense of vitality, and move toward lives that feel meaningful and whole. I have worked extensively with veterans and other trauma-exposed populations, integrating ACT as an ongoing, values-guided process rather than a set of techniques.

I previously served for over two decades at the National Center for PTSD, where I was involved in the dissemination and implementation of ACT across the VA healthcare system and conducted clinical research focused on PTSD, moral injury, suicide, and anxiety.

I am currently the Director of Trauma and Life Consultation and Psychological Services, Director of Research, Bay Area Trauma Recovery Clinical Services (BATRCS), and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, Berkeley. I continue to provide ACT training and consultation internationally and offer individual and group consultation via Zoom. My work emphasizes ACT as a process-based, relational psychotherapy grounded in psychological flexibility—supporting people in opening to what is difficult, connecting with what matters, and choosing a path forward, even in the presence of pain.
ACT/CBS Experience: I have been using ACT for over 30 years and have been a member of ACBS since it was founded.
Additional Information: I have been actively involved in the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS) for many years, including serving as Past President of the organization. I have contributed to the growth and evolution of ACT and CBS through service on multiple committees, training initiatives, and professional activities within the ACBS community. I currently serve as Chair of the Competency and Dissemination Pillar, where I support the development of ACT competencies, training standards, and international dissemination efforts, including collaboration with the ACT Training Committee. I have been a regular presenter and workshop leader at ACBS World Conferences, contributed to Special Interest Groups, and provided mentorship and supervision within the ACBS community. My work has also included contributions to the development and refinement of ACT competency frameworks and participation in strategic initiatives and advisory efforts within the organization. Across these roles, I have focused on advancing ACT as a process-based, relational psychotherapy, strengthening clinical training and supervision, and supporting a global community of practitioners dedicated to contextual behavioral science.

I also provide Zoom and phone individual and group consultation/supervision, guiding others on the learning, implementation and client-centered, process-based ACT. Please visit my website for more information: http://robynwalser.com
