ACT/CBS Background and Training: Although my first ACT workshop was a 2-day workshop led by Steve Hayes on Tahoe in 1998, I had been studying ACT since 1995 (my dissertation was on experiential avoidance as a predictor of relapse). In 2001, I worked with Dr. Robyn Walser to introduce ACT into the residential treatment programs at VA PAHCS. Ours was the first residential program in the country to provide ACT as a treatment for PTSD. As Director of the Women's Mental Health Center and Women's Trauma Recovery Program at VA PAHCS, I provided ACT supervision to many practicum students, interns, and postdoctoral students. I am a peer reviewed ACT Trainer, and have conducted numerous ACT workshops and trainings nation-wide and internationally. I have co-authored or authored four ACT books; "Learning ACT for Group Treatment: An Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Skills Training Manual for Therapists" (2017), "Advanced ACT: An Experienced Practitioner's Guide to Optimizing Delivery" (2014), "Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for the Treatment of PTSD and Trauma-related Problems" (2007) and “The Mindful Couple” (2009). For over 5 years I also served as an ACT consultant to the VA-wide rollout of ACT for depression, and have served as Chair of the ACBS Training Committee. In 2018 I became an ACBS Fellow.
ACT/CBS Experience: I've been researching ACT since '96, conducting the therapy since 2000
