ACT/CBS Background and Training: My formal clinical training was in functional analysis and Beckian CBT. I began working exclusively with ACT in 1995. Steve Hayes was my primary trainer in what was then becoming ACT, and I have been very involved in the development and testing of psychological flexibility; and, I have used ACT in organisations, with the UK Olympic and Paralympic teams, and with the European Space Agency.
I have received, and provided, a great deal of training in ACT and RFT, including having supervised many PhD students in ACT and RFT. I was also significantly involved in setting-up ACBS, of which I am a Past-President and current Fellow.
