ACT/CBS Background and Training: I am an advanced DBT practitioner and an intermediate ACT practitioner. I’m currently doing a deep dive in ACT learning because I believe that DBT can be ACT-consistent and that ACT can be DBT-consistent: to me, these two modalities are uncannily similar, and each fleshes the other out in very helpful ways.
Additional Information: I’ve completed the beginner and novice modules of the ACT Pathway, and will be completing its intermediate and master modules later this year. I’ve also completed reading and working through the following ACT texts, which I continually apply in my practice:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: The Process and Practice of Mindful Change, Second Edition, by S.C. Hayes, K.D. Strosahl, & K.G. Wilson (2012)
ACT Made Simple: Second Edition, by R. Harris (2019)
The Big Book of ACT Metaphors: A Practitioner’s Guide to Experiential Exercises and Metaphors in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, by J.A. Stoddard & N. Afari (2014)
Learning ACT: An Acceptance and Commitment THerapy Skills Training Manual for Therapists, Second Edition, by J.B. Luoma, S.C. Hayes, and R.D. Walser (2017)
Using Functional Analysis in Psychotherapy, by N. Törneke & S.G. Hoffman (2025)
