ACT/CBS Background and Training: In 2017, I was first introduced to ACT while working full-time as a Behavioural Health Consultant. ACT's process-oriented approach was really well-received by my patients at the time, prompting me to explore Relational Frame Theory and the strong evidence-base underpinning ACT. Experiential avoidance is quite common among patients learning to live with chronic disease. I maintain a small library of books and videos on ACT that I consult periodically, although patients also have taught me so much on how to apply ACT in practice!
