ACT/CBS Background and Training: Outside of graduate school I have no other specific CBS training. I have been working in the substance use recovery field since graduation in June 2023. I work primarily from an ACT based perspective and philosophy. I started and run an ACT group as well as utilize ACT in many ways with individual clients.
ACT/CBS Experience: ~2 years
Additional Information: The organization where I work is based primarily on Logotherapy which I have found intersects very well with ACT. It also has another focus on REBT and now ACT. Operating from these three perspectives, I have found ways to integrate ACT philosophies with both Logotherapy and REBT to give clients as many tools and ways of understanding these approaches uses both separately and in concert to address their immediate and future needs in their journey of recovery. RFT, as the basis of third wave psychotherapy, also makes its way into much of my clinical work as I strive to meet clients where they are to provide their support in the way most suited to each individual client. I currently run five different groups that each utilize, at the core, philosophies relating to ACT. ACT has always been the therapeutic modality that has spoken to me. However, in working with clients suffering from long-term substance use, difficulties being housed and many other first-order needs, I have started to see the significance of a broad-spectrum approach to therapeutic interventions that truly meet each client where they are.
