ACT/CBS Background and Training: ACT was part of my doctoral training at Stony Brook University, as well as part of my postdoctoral training at Center for Anxiety at Brooklyn, along with reading a series of classic books of ACT, including "ACT Made Simple," "Learning ACT: An Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Skills-Training Manual for Therapists," and "Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life: The New Acceptance and Commitment Therapy". In addition, I completed several ACT workshops with leading ACT experts, including Dr. Russ Harris and Dr. Jennifer Gregg.
Additional Information: I first encountered ACT during my PhD training, and I was immediately captivated by how it bridges the Eastern philosophical traditions of my background with contemporary psychological science. Growing up immersed in Eastern thought, I had always valued mindfulness, acceptance, and the interconnectedness of human experience, so discovering ACT felt like coming home. It gave me a framework to honor these roots while engaging in evidence-based practice, allowing me to bring my whole self into my work as a therapist and trainer.

What I most appreciate about ACT is its emphasis on psychological flexibility as a pathway to a rich, meaningful life. In our current society, where we're constantly bombarded with pressures to think, feel, and be a certain way, the ACT model offers a liberating permission to be human while still moving toward what matters most. I'm passionate about sharing these principles with others, helping them discover that struggling less with difficult experiences and connecting more deeply with their values can fundamentally transform how they navigate life's challenges.
