ACT/CBS Background and Training: I studied Behavior Analysis while receiving my undergraduate training in Psychology at UNESP-Bauru. However, after two years in the psychology program, I decided to change my career path to Medicine.
I graduated as an MD at UFCSPA (Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre). Although I was a medical student, I continued to be engaged in studying Behavior Analysis (BA) and Behavioral Psychology. Whenever I could (or whenever my medical studies allowed me to...), I participated in regional and national scientific events related to Behavior Analysis in Brazil (JAC's / AMPBC / ABCS).
I used to participate in an autonomous Study Group dedicated to BA weekly, and I also engaged in organizing scientific events in the area of Behavior Analysis and Mental Health at my University. I co-founded an official group of students (supervised by a Senior Professor) dedicated to study and promote Behavior Analysis at my University; this association is called LIPSIC (Academic League of Behavioral Psychology / Liga Acadêmica de Psicologia Comportamental).
After I finished my medical education, I engaged in some training in FAP at IBAC, and some training in ACT at ACBS national and international scientific events, altough I'm not Certified in neither FAP or ACT.
Since I started working as a General Practitioner, I've been thinking, studying, and experimenting in my own clinical practice on how to apply BA/CBS to the medical field. And that's one of my biggest passions: to contribute to the field of Contextual Behavioral Medicine.
