The New England Center for OCD and Anxiety (NECOA) is committed to the integration of science and clinical practice. We aim to conduct and disseminate research on empirically-supported treatments for OCD and Anxiety that can have a direct impact on our clinic, the individuals we serve, and the broader field of psychology.  

Our clinical research lab is interested in the following broad areas of investigation:

1. Integration of ACT with Exposure and Response Prevention for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in children, adolescents, and adults

2. Mechanisms and processes in exposure-based treatment in diverse and minoritized populations

3. ACT for Parents

4. Effects of parental modeling of anxious behaviors on the development and maintenance of childhood anxiety and related disorders

5. The Role of Prosocial Behavior in Climate-Related Behaviors (with University of San Francisco in Quito, and Galapagos Islands, Ecuador)

Current Research Projects:

1. Examining OCD and Severe Anxiety in Children and Adolescents

2. Retrospective Analysis of Residential OCD and Anxiety Treatment in Youth

3. Verbal Behavior in Exposure Coaching: The Role of Mindfulness and Values

4. ACT for Parents: Open Trial with Parents Raising Anxious Children

5. Using ACT and Prosocial to Support Conservation and Climate-Protective Behavior 

6. Facilitators and Barriers to Implementing Measurement Based Care 

The Coalition of Behavioral Science Organizations Climate Change Task Force:
