The Traditional Practice Program in Clinical Psychology is a one-year postdoctoral fellowship program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Our program is grounded in the Scientist-Practitioner model of training and is designed to prepare psychologists for advanced practice in public sector settings. Additionally, training provided is a fully supervised experience designed for postdoctoral fellows to gain advanced competencies and to meet the California Board of Psychology criteria for Supervised Professional Experience hours towards licensure.
Postdoctoral Fellows are expected to refine existing clinical skills and develop advanced competencies in assessment, therapeutic interventions, consultation, supervision, and research/scholarly activities (e.g., program development or evaluation). Fellows will work with diverse patient populations and are expected to learn to function effectively in inter- and multi-disciplinary settings.
Postdoctoral Fellows that have completed our program have gone on to public-sector settings (local, state, and federal), academic and medical school departments, public agency administration, clinical practice, managed care administration, clinical research, and teaching.
