Nominations for Editor of the Journal of Contextual Behavioral Science

The Call for Nominations for the Editor of the Journal of Contextual Behavioral Science is open until October 15, 2023! Consider nominating well-qualified individuals (self-nominations are welcome).



Criteria that will be considered in selecting the Editor will include:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of, and broad perspective on, the field of contextual behavioral science
  • Understanding and appreciation of the many sub-disciplines within the field (e.g., across traditional domains of study and practice, such as psychology, psychiatry, medicine, social work, nursing, counseling, speech pathology, behavior analysis, drug and alcohol counseling, and so on)
  • Understanding and appreciation of the many orientations within the field (e.g., cognitive behavioral, behavior analytic, evolution science, cognitive science)
  • Understanding and appreciation of the established and emerging areas of research and practice within contextual behavioral science
  • A record of professional accomplishment and identity within contextual behavioral science
  • Demonstrated research, writing, reviewing, and managerial skills
  • Significant editorial experience
  • Commitment to devoting time to editorial duties

The new Editor will have wide latitude to phase in an editorial team and to structure its interaction. The Editor is expected to commission special issues and to solicit key articles; to work to increase the impact of the journal; and to monitor and improved the speed, efficiency, and helpfulness of the review process. The Editor interacts regularly with the ACBS Publications Committee and with Elsevier; is normally expected to attend meetings at the annual World Conference; and presents an annual report to the Publications Committee. The position carries an honorarium.

Starting Date: The Editor should be prepared to begin the transition in early 2024 and to handle all new submissions beginning April 1, 2024. The term is four years.
