ACT/CBS Background and Training: I have taken courses in my Master's program at UHCL where I graduated in 2013, as well as implemented ACT techniques in my practicum and internship. I have also attended multiple ACT trainings, including the ACT Bootcamp in Reno. During my time at the Menninger clinic, I implemented ACT in my individual and group work often (for an extended period of at least 2.5 years on an inpatiend assessment & stabilization unit I actively led 13 groups a week, the majority of which were ACT based). Further, throughout most of my career over the next 10+ years I have primarily utilized ACT principles in my individual, group, and coaching sessions with clients across various levels of care.
ACT/CBS Experience: 11+ years experience
Additional Information: I am eternally thankful for my friends in school that said they were taking the class "Mindfulness Based Therapies" in our Master's program at University of Houston-Clear Lake, which was taught by Dr. William "Dub" Norwood, a man I miss dearly and still hope to live up to his legacy to this day. I signed up for the class only because I needed a therapy elective for my Master's degree plan, as well as I wanted to take classes with my friends (who doesn't?), but within the first week, I knew I had found the therapy that was almost tailor made to resonate with my soul. I still use other therapies and engage in other trainings & certifications to make sure I'm sharpening my skills because it's important of course, but ACT will always be my first love/passion and main tool in my therapeutic tool box.
