ACT/CBS Background and Training: I am committed to ever expanding and refining my skill set and have been interested in utilization of ACT/CBS since my graduate studies where I took a semester long seminar on ACT. Since this I have engaged in a number of trainings including the ACT Bootcamp and through ACT Wellington (ACT and ERP, DNA-V). I additionally engage in my own self-study (e.g., reading relevant texts) and clinical supervision around my practice.
ACT/CBS Experience: Used in clinical practice for last 6 years
Additional Information: I specialise in obsessive-compulsive and anxiety disorders in children, adolescents, and adults. While the primary scope of my practice is targeted, I am comfortable and experienced with co-occuring conditions (e.g., neurodevelopmental, trauma and stressor related). My approach is evidence-based, personalised, and compassionate with a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. I generally utilise Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and include other therapeutic modalities (e.g, Exposure and Response Prevention, family therapy/parent consultation) depending on the presenting concern and accompanying factors.
I am culturally-sensitive and affirming and am experienced in working with clients of different backgrounds, identities, and belief systems. My main aim is to help my clients define and create a fulfilling life in spite of whatever challenges they are experiencing and I do this through techniques such as values-clarification, goal-setting, exposure therapy, and shifting the way one relates and responds to their thoughts.
I am local to Kirikiriroa where I am registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board under the clinical psychologist scope. Additionally, I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia, USA. I provide telehealth in both Aotearoa and the United States as well as in-person intensives around the central North Island.
