ACT/CBS Background and Training: I have worked as a CBT based psychotherapist for 12 years, mostly for the British NHS service. In recent years I have opened my own private practice and offer therapy, supervision and soon to be teaching. I am hoping to expand my ACT network locally, but also to open up opportunities where I can contribute to the materials and teaching around ACT.
I first came across ACT during a 2 day training course 7 years ago, and have since attended numerous training sessions. I have been practicing using ACT theory and frameworks ever since. It has since become my central modality of choice, alongside CBT, EMDR and MBCT.
I am currently supervised in my clinical practice by Richard Bennett, author of many books on ACT and provider of ACT training and workshops, who has been an excellent mentor, and also who recommended joining the ACBS.
