ATTENTION: For ease of travel and to avoid any travel/immigration issues, make sure to choose either LCA or PFA airports.
Other airports on the island of Cyprus are not permitted access points for legal entry into the Republic of Cyprus.
Larnaca International Airport (LCA) (largest airport in Cyprus, and closest to Nicosia)
Larnaca is the biggest and busiest airport in Cyprus, it is approximately 30 minutes driving to Nicosia.
Airport Shuttle bus
Look for signs to the "Bus Exit".
You can find shuttle information here. The bus leaves almost every hour, and costs 9€ (one-way) for adults and 5€ (one-way) for children. The trip on the shuttle takes approximately 45 minutes and takes you to:
Nicosia Station: Kyrenias Avenue, 2112, behind Melconian. Opposite Police Headquarters.
Once you arrive at the shuttle station in Nicosia, you are not yet in the city center. To reach Solomos Square (which is the primary 'downtown' bus terminal and center of everything, You may use the CPT Buses (CPT=Cyprus Public Transport) - numbers 158 and 160 from Nicosia Station to Solomos Square. A paper/cash ticket is 2€ per person and may be paid to the driver upon entry to the bus. Children under the age of 6 are free. This bus will take about 15 minutes to reach Solomos Square.
Alternatively, you will likely prefer to take a taxi from the shuttle drop off point. Taxi's are often there waiting, but if there is not one, download and use the taxi app BOLT and request a taxi. If you enable GPS for it, you can then just enter your destination and car options and estimated rates (into the old city, likely 10-12€).

Taxis & Private cars
Taxis and private cars are available to take you from the airport to Nicosia for approximately 45-60€, and will take approximately 30 minutes.
Taxi's are often waiting, but if there is not one, download and use the taxi app BOLT and request a taxi.
Car Rental
The Larnaca airport has numerous car rental companies inside the airport. Astra, Hertz, Petsas, Thrifty, Europcar, Sixt, Budget, Avis
There are other rental companies outside of the airport that will arrange pick up.
Any of these may work for you. There is plentiful parking at the University of Cyprus campus, without the need for an entry badge or permit. Old city Nicosia has a lot of parking for approximate 3€ for the evening, or less if look around.
Please keep in mind that driving is Cyprus is on the left side of the street (like Australia, Kenya, India, Ireland, UK, etc.), and travel into the occupied terrority of Cyprus (if you plan to visit) requires SEPARATE/ADDITIONAL car insurance.
Paphos International Airport (PFO)

You can find shuttle information here. The bus leaves only a few times per day, and costs approximately 16€ (one-way) for adults and 5€ (one-way) for children. The trip on the shuttle takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes and takes you to:

There are a number of low cost airlines that fly into Cyprus. Consider checking your options here:
Many flights into Cyprus originate in Athens and London (as well as many other airports). Depending on your travel plans you may like to include a stop over in one of those cities, and then take a local airline into Cyprus. Just something to consider.
