THE NEW SHOES (English version)

They were shinning at his feet and, even best, he could feel them as confortable as gloves. He turned himself in front of the full-length mirror to see them from every possible perspective. Perfect! The shinnig of the shoes matched to the shinning of his combed hair.

He felt happy as what he was: a child with new shoes. He wouldn’t change his shoes neither for puss in boots’ boots nor for Magic Johnson’s snakers or for those boots with wheels that go as roller-skates along the malls corridors. His were the shoes he liked the best, those he had dreamed of since he had seen them in the shop-window.

He smiled by thinking of the impression he was about to give to the people at his birthday party: everybody would be amazed about how tall he was now. Yes, he was already a little man wearing long trousers and shoes with shoelaces and nobody could laugh at him now...

Well, his cousin. She was a very naugthy girl and she would try to stamp on his new shoes... He imagined his cousin’s footprint on his shoes and felt bad. Perhaps it would be better don’t approach her along the afternoon.

And what about his neghbours? They would be looking forward to play football, as always. He, as a good center forward, liked playing football very much, but that afternoon, with his new shoes, his new shinning shoes... it would be better don’t approach the neighbours nor the ball to protect his nice new shoes.

And what about the dog? The boy saw the dog playing with his shoelaces, the shoes smeared with dog saliva, scratched with the dog’s claws. He had to think about the best way to protect his nice new shinning shoes...

When he went into the garden, at last, everybody was smiling, waiting to congratulate him and to give him their presents. The boy imagined the next scene: tweaked ears, hugs, stamps, dog’s licks...

At the first stamp on his shoes, his eyes were full of tears. He was about to cry because his damaged shoes but he remembered he was already a man with a long trauser and shoes with shoelaces. He looked at everybody smiling at him, the neighbours waiting with the ball, his cousin ready to get his shoes dirty...

He closed his eyes and let everybody to huge him, even his cousin, he played with his dog and finally, without more thinking of, he went to play football with his friends.

At the end of the day, the shoes were abolutely dirty but the boy had played football, enjoyed his presents, joked with his cousin, ran with his dog... and he felt absolutely happy. The shoes were dirty, true, but they were only a pair of shoes. He would clean them later...

Yes, he was really a true little man.
