Partial Hospital Treatment: Uniformed Service Professionals

Printer-friendly version

In this two-week treatment protocol, you will find documents for using ACT and the Crosshairs diagram as the core approach to treatment for uniformed service professionals in a partial hospital treatment program. Here is a list of groups that comprise the protocol:

  • Peer Council
  • Mindful Movement (Qi Gong and Yoga)
  • ACT Psychotherapy
  • Breath Training
  • Mindfulness Training
  • Relaxation Training
  • Leisure Activity

Since 2017, the protocol has been used in a dedicated partial hospital program to treat uniformed service professionals (police officers, firefighters, EMTs, correctional officers, service members, and veterans) struggling with a wide range of psychological conditions including substance use. You may tailor the program schedule to create an intensive outpatient program or use the groups as individual sessions in an outpatient treatment setting.

Included in the documents, you will find self-report questionnaires to use in the treatment planning process to monitor patients’ progress toward achieving their treatment goals, determine the effectiveness of treatment, and inform the goals and objectives of patients’ individualized treatment plans.
