Deadline for Nominations: October 15, 2019 -

The Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS) invites nominations for Editor of the Journal of Contextual Behavioral Science, the flagship journal of ACBS. JCBS welcomes contextual behavioral analyses of phenomena that are relevant to the aims and scope of the society's mission, which is to change behavior at an individual or cultural level, to alleviate human suffering, and to advance human wellbeing.

The journal considers submissions without topical restriction (e.g., psychotherapy, psychopathology, education, organizational, behavioral medicine, speech pathology, cultural evolution, language and cognition, experimental psychology, and so on). Empirical papers, conceptual and philosophical papers, and reviews (systematic reviews and meta-analyses are preferred) are welcome. JCBS is particularly focused on papers emphasizing the study of functional and contextual processes that are relevant to a broad range of human problems or forms of human prosperity. Analyses may range across dimensions (genetic, epigenetic, neurobiological, behavioral, symbolic), or levels of analysis (individual, couples, families, groups, communities), and methods (e.g., time series analyses, cross-sectional, experimental). The journal publishes papers written by researchers, practitioners, and theoreticians from different intellectual traditions, although functional and contextual approaches within behavioral, cognitive, and evolutionary perspectives are most emphasized. What is distinctive is not a narrowly defined theory or set of applied methods but whether the methodology, conceptualization, or strategy employed is relevant to the exploration of manipulable contextual variables relevant to the prediction and influence of human behavior, organized into models, theories, and methods that promote effective practices.

JCBS is recognized internationally as a leading resource of information about contextual behavioral science. Published by Elsevier and available through Elsevier's library adoption programs, JCBS is also distributed free of charge to all ACBS members (currently numbering approximately 8,000 members worldwide). Between these two channels JCBS is arguably the most widely distributed behaviorally-oriented journal in the world. JCBS’s 2018 Impact Factor is 1.890, a 55% increase from our first Impact Factor of 1.216.
