Mission/Objectives
The Men and Masculinities SIG exists to advance the contextual behavioral science understanding and application of men’s well-being, healthy masculinity, and gender identity across diverse contexts and cultures.
Our objectives are to:
- Promote case consultation and best practices for engaging men in therapy, coaching, and group formats.
- Facilitate dialogue and skill-building around healthy masculinity and mental health, informed by CBS, ACT, and related behavioral sciences.
- Explore masculinities across cultures, life stages, and identities, including gender-nonconforming men and transmasculine experiences.
- Build a collaborative community of practitioners, researchers, and advocates in this space.
- Support advocacy for positive masculinity in professional, clinical, and community contexts.
- Collaborate with other SIGs, particularly those focused on diversity, inclusion, gender, and culture.
Our members include ACBS practitioners, researchers, students, and advocates with an interest in men’s mental health, masculinity studies, and contextual behavioral approaches to gendered experiences. Membership is open to individuals of all genders who are committed to evidence-based, inclusive, and culturally sensitive work with men and masculinities. We anticipate drawing from clinicians, academics, graduate students, organizational consultants, community leaders, and allied professionals worldwide.
