Dr Tamar Black

This highly practical workshop is designed to help you get started straight away in using ACT with children and adolescents. You will learn:

• how to adapt the ACT Model of Behavior Change (Hayes, Pistorello, & Levin, 2012) for this population
• how to use an ACT case conceptualization template developed specifically for use with children and adolescents
• engaging activities and exercises developmentally appropriate for children and adolescents
• how to DO ACT rather than TALK ACT
• how to combine self-compassion and ACT

Session-by-session case examples will illustrate how to do therapy using the ACT model, which participants will be able to apply to their own work. Through experiencing the activities and role playing in the workshop, you will be able to start using ACT with your own clients.

Target Audience:
No prior training in or knowledge of ACT is needed, this workshop suits psychologists, social workers, counsellors and other mental health clinicians, who are beginners in ACT through to intermediate.

Presenter:
Dr Tamar Black is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist, who has worked as a psychologist with children and adolescents for seventeen years. She has been employed as a School Psychologist for the last sixteen years, and she also works in private practice.
