Target Audience
This course is designed for healthcare professionals interested in enhancing knowledge about provider and employee well-being and self-compassion. These include physicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, psychologists, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, counselors, and physician assistants.
The morning will address the health challenges that have become epidemic in the modern world, a wide variety of highly modifiable modern world risk factors for both mental and physical illness, and the use of self-care and self-compassion.
The afternoon sessions will be experiential in focus by providing a set of tools and skills that participants will be prepared to use immediately following the workshop – whether in their own lives or at work in health care settings.

Educational Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
• explain the “evolutionary mismatch” theory of modern chronic illness
• describe three highly modifiable lifestyle factors for optimal mental and physical health outcomes
• describe the six processes in the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Mode
