ACT/CBS Background and Training: My training in ACT began in 1998-99 at West Virginia University under the direction of Dr. Georg Eifert. I have conducted ACT trainings both nationally and internationally since 2002. I conduct seminars and workshops for mental health professionals and trainees in academic, medical, government, and community-based settings. I’ve developed my trainings to be both didactic and experiential in nature and rely heavily on role plays and experiential exercises to demonstrate core principles and clinical methods used in ACT.

My research has focused on ACT principles, processes, and clinical methods, with the ultimate goal of developing and evaluating ACT protocols for children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of chronic health conditions. My colleagues and I have published empirical and conceptual papers on the integration of acceptance and mindfulness into behavioral treatments for various conditions, including anxiety disorders and chronic pain. Book chapters and conceptual papers have focused largely on the theoretically coherent adaptation of ACT principles, processes, and clinical methods to various child and adolescent populations.
ACT/CBS Experience: Studying and using ACT since 1999
