Mission/Objectives

The mission of the Brief Interventions Special Interest Group (SIG) is to promote education, training, and research in brief interventions within the framework of contextual behavioral science. This includes fostering the development and dissemination of approaches such as Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (fACT) and other brief ACT-based interventions. The SIG aims to create a collaborative community for practitioners, researchers, and educators to advance accessible, cost-effective, and impactful interventions that enhance psychological flexibility and improve mental health outcomes across diverse populations and settings.

SIG Activities

  • Share publications & resources on the dedicated SIG email listserv
  • Host virtual meetings and networking opportunities
  • Organize skill-based workshops and trainings focused on fACT and other brief ACT applications
  • Host Peer Consultation Groups or Book Clubs
  • Participate in the annual ACBS World Conference by sponsoring symposiums and hosting a SIG meeting
  • Maintain a webpage of SIG resources

The Brief Interventions SIG members is open to All ACBS members. We encourage you to join the SIG if you are interested in brief ACT intervention research and practice!
